Come ye all who wish to hear
The tale told of seasonal cheer
Of summer and winter and their love,
And their court in heavens above
For beasts of old guide our skies
And curl all up in the bright insides
Of the Sun and of the Moon
and for each other they do swoon
So sit and listen, for men not know,
Of the summer dog and the cat of snow
In younger lands where skies were dark
The only light above were stars
Eternal twilight, from south to north
Before the days of men came forth
The faeries grazed from west to east
Taking form of chosen beast
A hateful spirit had no toil
For love was true and not to spoil
And first among the worldly lovers
Was the beastial celestial mothers
A dog there was, moreso a hound
That trod old paths upon our ground
Her bold gold coat, her guiding light
A summers glow to pierce the night
With the spirit of fire she travelled further
Than many a mutt that came before her
To set alight with roaring flame
What she saw fit to carry its name
But the flame of the Sun would not long be
Kept a gift for only she
As she came to the end of the rivers flow,
Twas there she saw the cat of snow
Her fur as soft as her fluffy namesake
And eyes that shine brilliantly to take
All who gaze into her sweet pull
To bask in all her lovely beamful
Playfulness and wondrous grace
With all this beauty in a little face
Long had she slept in the snow alone
Since first it fell and grass had grown
For like the hound she held a light
One that held the chill of night
But in beholding one another
They couldn't help but to wuther
Excitement sprung too far to catch
For their lights had seemed to match
Bringing warmth and coldness needed
And to love they then conceded
And for time unknown to any mortal
They did play and dance and dawdle
Rolling together through snow and grass
A love was forged that forever could last
As their love had come to bloom
Both had resolved to make a boon
For the other, to let them see
The light within and its beauty
And so the dog took to snow and ice
To make a present big and nice
And likewise the cat took to the ground
To see what metals could be found
At dawn they met upon a hill
To give their gifts and give their thrill
The cat had said to watch the sky
For the gift lies on high
They both had waited until they saw
A titan built in precious ore
A rolling ball that crossed the heavens
Upon all eyes had made impressions
The cat had built for her one
The metal orb we call the Sun
Boundless joy the hound had felt
Twas ice that made her heart melt
A thousand kisses she could give
Until the twilight raised its mist
A similar favour the dog had asked
As night then came a shadow dark
Looming over with a pale glow
Hung in the sky, a ball of snow
Rolled hard and long by dogs own paws
And all in grace its light now draws
Chirping mews now filled the ear
Of the dogged lover from her dear
Her gift that made her loves sweet tune
Was the beauty of the Moon
The Sun could make the green grass grow,
And the Moon could make the rivers flow
But the greatest gift they gave each other
Was the living motion that a lover
Can bring into the life of one
That can rival Moon and Sun
And so they balled in into their presents
To shine their light and give their presence
Unto a world once dim with abyss
So that its wonder now may flourish
And when they miss each other much
You see the great old titans rush
To meet once more and share in bliss
To roll in love and share a kiss
And the shadow of love lays on the lips
On the budding earth in the Great Eclipse
And now you know the story old
Of celestial silver and heavenly gold
And the faeries asleep within
And the love that we bask in
So next when the Moon covers the Sun,
Make merry with your special one
For now you lay in the shadow of love,
So kiss them with the beasts above
For love that can stand the Suns flack
or survive a trip to the Moon and back
